Northeast Sicily & Aeolian Islands

April 11-18 Breathtaking natural splendor and UNESCO World Heritage sites await in Salina Island, Catania and Taormina

We had an enjoyable day hiking Mt. Etna, exploring the the Alcantara Gorges created by lava flow and sampling Etna wine. We ended our day with a remarkable opera in Taormina. The food including the special Easter treats were scrumptious. Luckily, we walked 55 miles this week. Terry particularly enjoyed the shopping for new clothes in Taormina.

A stunning sunset on Salina (Aeolian Island). We also hiked Fossa Mountain for stunning views of the other islands and Mt. Etna climbing over 3,000 feet in elevation in a little over 2 hours.

The Greek Amphitheatre in Taormina is one of the best preserved Greek ruins in the world and a UNESCO world heritage site built around the third century BC. From the theatre you enjoy stunning views of Taormina’s coast.
