ASIAN ADVENTURES AWAIT IN 2024

We started our long journey to Bangkok relaxing at the Emirates lounge.

The glitz of Bangkok is juxtaposed by pastoral Chiang Mai during our first week of adventure.

Although Stacy has always dreamed of spending time in Asia with elephants, apparently Terry has always yearned for an opportunity to tour the grand palace while wearing a pair of elephant pants.

The shopping in Bangkok is out of this world and tourists rent traditional dress for the temple visits. Terry was impressed with the thoughtful and practical addition of free hair with every outfit rental.

The stunning Temple of the Dawn has been entirely decorated with pieces of broken plates. Beautiful from a distance...and amazing close up. Having given up washing of dishes and cooking for a month, Stacy decided to pose with these dishes, just in case she forgets what they are normally used for back home.

The monks are highly revered in Thailand. These young men can begin their studies as early as 7 years old. They were on a school field trip visiting the Grand Palace when we saw them.

Thailand’s most valued temple features the magnificent Emerald Buddha that dates back to the 14th century and is carved from a single piece of jade. One fun fact is that the Emerald Buddha has 3 different seasonal outfits that are changed by the king. He is pictured here in his summer attire.

No trip to Thailand is complete without a selfie traveling in the canals in a longtail boat with a giant golden Buddha.

Our first hotel was so lovely and we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality. The bath towel art was nothing short of amazing at each and every hotel.

Our hotel featured one of the top 10 rooftop bars and restaurants in the world. The 360 degree views of Bangkok were awesome!!

Each hotel found a special way to celebrate Stacy’s birthday. This was one of the more creative approaches and a fun memory from our hotel in Chiang Mai.

Whether you choose the rooftop or enclosed location of Vertigo you are treated to amazing cocktails and stunning views.

We had a fun cooking experience at an organic farm and cooking school in Chiang Mai. We learned how to create our favorite Thai dishes when back home.

Terry particularly enjoyed donning a cap while strolling through the organic garden to pluck vegetables for our meal.

In the end, we decided to allow others to cook a fabulous dinner for us in this very cool century-old teak mansion with a secret room. The building was once home to the British consulate where it hosted its elegant dinner parties
